After 15 years in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado, Sue Bookhout recently moved back to her original hometown of Cazenovia in Central New York State.
Sue is an avid outdoors woman and has a wealth of experience in the field. She raised and trained two German shorthaired pointers with which she hunts, competes in field trials and occasionally guides upland hunts. Sue is a certified dog trainer and also teaches pet first aid classes.
Sue is a shotgun enthusiast and is certified to teach the NRA's basic shotgun class. She shoots on the Central New York Trap League for the Pompey Rod & Gun Club.
Fly fishing, big game hunting, turkey hunting and archery also top the list.
Sue Melus has a B.S. degree in Natural Resources from Cornell University. Her professional experience includes forest ecology research assistant at the Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, NY, naturalist at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, forest health biotech for the U.S. Forest Service, and Director of Operations at the Aspen Global Change Institute.
Sue is published in the Pheasants Forever magazine, the Ruffed Grouse Society magazine, Turkey Country, the Bird Hunting Report, and Suite101.com. She was also the Outdoor Columnist at the Carbondale Sopris Sun. She was an editor and co-author on the first of its kind report, Climate Change in Aspen: An Assessment of Impacts and Potential Responses.
Sue's PR clients have included Columbia Sportswear, Sitka Gear, Brunton, Gerber Legendary Blades, Simms Fishing Products and Nite Ize.
